Skinny Jump

Hutt City Libraries is proud to support Skinny Jump, a flexible broadband service that helps eligible households get connected at home.

Skinny Jump provides eligible households with a free modem and 35GB of pre-pay data for just $5, with no fixed-term contract. It's designed to make it easier for people to access online learning, employment opportunities, essential services, and stay connected with whānau and friends.


Who can apply?

Skinny Jump is available to people who identify with one or more of the following groups:

  • Families with children in low socio-economic communities
  • People with disabilities
  • Migrants and refugees who use English as a second language
  • Māori and Pasifika youth
  • Offenders and ex-offenders
  • Seniors
  • People living in social housing

Getting signed up

Once you've confirmed Skinny Jump is available at your address, contact your local library* to check if they have modems in stock and arrange your sign-up. The registration process can take up to 30 minutes, and some locations require an appointment. Please get in touch before visiting to find out whether you need to book and the best time to come in.

*Skinny Jump sign-ups are not available at Eastbourne Neighbourhood Hub, Petone Neighbourhood Hub or Maungaraki Community Library.

Need help?

If you're experiencing problems with your Skinny Jump connection, think your modem may be faulty, or you're moving to a new address, please contact Skinny directly on 0800 475 4669. They can provide technical support, help with your service, and advise on transferring your connection if you're moving.


How to top up

You can purchase Skinny Jump top-up vouchers from most dairies, supermarkets, and service stations throughout New Zealand. You can also top up using a credit or debit card through the Skinny Jump app or online dashboard.

If you no longer need your Skinny Jump modem, please return it to any Hutt City Library. Your returned modem can be reused, helping more households access affordable internet through Skinny Jump.
