I’ve loved reading since the moment I started doing it, and visiting a library is my favourite form of self-care these days. The books that I enjoy the most are graphic-novel retellings of true stories! I’m also quite happy to flit between adult’s, teen’s, and children’s books because they all speak to different parts of me. I hope you enjoy this varied selection of my 5-star reads!

As a reader, non-fiction has always been my comfort zone. I enjoy self-help books, biographies and autobiographies. I am fascinated by real-life stories of people who made a mark in the world and how they rise above their own adversities. I have also been exploring fiction recently. I love the idea that it takes me to a different world. I enjoy the works of Mitch Albom and Jojo Moyes.

Hi! I'm Tams, from Petone Library, my reading can be a bit eclectic if I come across something that's an intriguing thought experiment but generally I lean towards zoology in nonfiction and towards fantasy(incl urban)/scifi, uplit, LGBTQ (but no tragic endings!) in adult and young adult novels in fiction. Across all genres, I enjoy novel, short story, and graphic novel formats and will often be drawn to a book that has an absurdist fun element, or other times embodies diversity or is a challenge to injustice.
