Get free online help with school research from New Zealand librarians. Students can chat live with a librarian who will help them find reliable information and develop their research skills. We’re open 10am – 3pm weekdays to help students with their inquiries.

Class visits

Bring your learners to the library for an engaging visit tailored to your group's age and interests.

Class visits are available by prior arrangement. Contact your local library to discuss your group's needs and book a visit.

Educator Cards

Educator Cards are available to teachers and early childhood educators to support learning in the classroom. They allow educators to borrow additional library resources for educational use.

To apply for an Educator Borrower Membership, download a copy of the application form or ask for a copy at your local library.

Library membership for students

Library membership is free for anyone who lives in Lower Hutt. Members can borrow books, eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, and other library resources, as well as access our online collections and digital services.

Reading and learning programmes

Throughout the year we offer a variety of programmes that encourage reading and learning, including storytimes, holiday programmes, author events, and our annual summer reading programme, The Big Read.
