Neighbourhood Hub - Change of Hours
From Monday 3 November 2025, the opening hours at some of our Neighbourhood Hubs and Libraries will change.
We’re standardising opening hours across our Hubs to deliver a more consistent and efficient service for our communities, while making sure key services are still available across the city.
Why are hours changing?
- To create consistent hours across our Hubs and Libraries, making it easier to know when your local hub is open.
- To balance community access with sustainable service delivery as part of Council’s Long Term Plan.
- To reduce financial pressures while continuing to provide spaces for learning, connection and community events.
- To ensure Hubs remain at the heart of our neighbourhoods, with staffed services during opening hours and many spaces still available for bookings outside staffed hours.
What’s staying the same?
- Saturday access continues at all hub sites.
- Sunday access continues at Petone and Walter Nash Centre.
- Later weekday closing (6.30pm) at War Memorial Library and late night Wednesday (8.30pm).
- Community spaces remain bookable, even outside staffed hours, through Bookable.
